Cecil Sundar Kotey was born into a musical family in Rajahmundry to parents Devadoss Kotey and Sukanya Kotey. Raised in Triplicane, Chennai, he attended Christ Church Anglo-Indian School and graduated from Madras University with a major in business administration . Despite his academic background, Cecil was drawn to the hotel industry, beginning his career at the Residency . He spent over five years at ITC Hotels Park Sheraton, but had to end his 17years career in food and beverage due to a prolapsed disc. Cecil then transitioned into event management, successfully managing a dozen high-profile weddings and conferences for Prime Ministers, Chief Ministers, as well as IPL and ISL events. He continues to run this thriving business with his wife, Shoba. In the past five years, Cecil has also ventured into sales of Honeywell fire alarm systems with a friend, achieving significant success and earning the title of Best Channel Partner for consecutive years. Throughout his career, Cecil has earned several notable credentials. He created a handbook for butler managers and wrote manuals on food and beverage standard operating procedures (SOPs). He also holds a Six Sigma certification, demonstrating his commitment to quality and efficiency. Known as one of the most sought-after F&B professionals, Cecil's expertise has been widely recognized. Cecil is a man of many talents. He has a flair for languages, is very witty, and is a gifted singer. Additionally, he is a sports enthusiast, adding to his dynamic personality. Known for his natural ability to connect with people and his great sense of humor, Cecil's compassionate and loving nature often leads him to go out of his way to help others. His heart goes out to stray dogs; once, he brought home a stray dog and convinced his mom and brother to keep him. They named the pet Bacster. Committed to making a positive impact, Cecil joined Rotary to bring hope and make a difference in his community. As the 53rd Secretary of the Rotary Club of Midtown, Cecil is sure to add significant value with his dedication and vision. This year, under the theme "Magic," Cecil will be working alongside the vibrant President Kamal to create a truly enchanting experience for the Rotary community and beyond.
